What is Panchang, and how is it calculated?

Panchang (literally "five limbs") is the traditional Hindu almanac that describes each day through five elements: Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana and Var. Unlike sites that reuse a fixed printed almanac, Planets360 calculates every Panchang element from astronomical ephemeris data - the real position of the Sun and Moon for your exact date, time and city - so Tithi transitions, Nakshatra changes, sunrise/sunset and Rahu Kalam windows are accurate to the minute for your selected location rather than approximated for a single reference city.

A lunar day based on the angular distance between the Moon and Sun, used to time fasts, festivals and Muhurat.

⭐ Nakshatra

The Moon's lunar mansion for the day, central to Muhurat selection and to Planets360's Nakshatra-based daily predictions.

🧘 Yoga

A combined Sun-Moon longitude value indicating the auspiciousness of the day's planetary combination.

Half of a Tithi, used alongside Tithi to refine the timing of specific rituals and activities.

Why ephemeris-based accuracy matters
